DOSIsoft SA, french software leader specialized in Radiotherapy and Medical Imaging, is pleased to announce that EPIgray®, EPID-based transit dosimetry solution, has received a Medical Device Licence from Health Canada, on the 2nd of February, 2016 and is now available for sale on the Canadian market.

 

EPIgray®: « in vivo » dose monitoring system in Radiation therapy

Using EPID (Electronic Portal Imaging Device), EPIgray® enables health professionals to catch patients’ dose deviation during their treatment course and to identify exactly the error origin.

As an independent quality control tool, EPIgray® compares predicted dose provided by TPS with reconstructed dose, by means of EPID-based transit dosimetry. Obtained by EPID integrated in any linear accelerator, the transit dose is back projected into the 3D patient anatomical model. Taking into account patient-detector distance, patient thickness and depth of point of interest, the algorithms for «back projection» and «in situ» dose calculation lead to improvement of dose control’s accuracy and quality. The method is developed in collaboration with Institut Curie, one of the largest European oncology research centers.

Today, EPIgray® offers an «in situ» visualization of dose difference into 3D patient anatomy. Through 3D Beam’s Eye View and DVH graphics, clinicians can evaluate, fraction by fraction, beam by beam, dose-volume error regions (target volume and Organs at Risk) and their severity. The patient QA outcomes are displayed automatically on an on-line dashboard, that can alert you, in case of dose out of tolerance.

 

DOSIsoft strengthens its overseas growth in Canada

Besides the FDA 510(k) clearance and the CE marking, EPIgray® is licensed by Health Canada. In this context, DOSIsoft has signed a distributor agreement with Medron Medical Systems. This licence and partnership will enable DOSIsoft to help Canadian hospitals to meet their Quality Assurance needs.
